The last weeks in Oxford were amazing, time definitely passed way faster than I had ever realized. Two months seems like a long time but it truly passes by fast. When I was Oxford I got the opportunity to explore some other parts of Mississippi. I drove down to Madison/Ridgeland and Jackson (The capital of Mississippi). Which is about a 2-2 hr 30 min drive from Oxford, you can also drive down to New Orleans within 4 hours unfortunately I did not get the opportunity to go all the way down to New Orleans. However in Jackson, I got to visit a Sikh Temple (Gurudwara), which was nice to see people from the same background as me. Getting to see Jackson was pretty cool because I had heard about it in the song Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars, but never would have thought I would have actually been able to visit there.

I tried some different foods at places we don’t have in Canada to name a few such as Newks Eatery and Taste Italian Kitchen. I did try some of the Southern foods like fried chicken and I even tried fried catfish to name a few. There were so many different kinds of food you can try in Mississippi, southern cuisine is known to be some of the best food.

Something that was really cool, I did not know about was something called Loaded tea. It can have an insane amount of caffeine. You can add different things to the drinks like collagen, it has many different flavours to. I had a flavour called Jolly Rancher. They had a few places on campus where you could purchase it from. I have a high caffeine tolerance but this was crazy to try however it was super good I did enjoy it.

I got to even go to a wedding in Missisppi as well it was so much fun and really cool to see how weddings are done in the south.

Oxford was truly an amazing experience, whether it was the sunsets or the looking up at the stars at night, getting to visit local businesses. I truly enjoyed every moment of it, I miss it so much I learned so much from this experience. Post TAB was hard to adjust back to life at home however I took away so much from my time there and I will continue to bring my experiences into my time at the schools and just life in general. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog posts until next time signing out!
