Hey everyone!
I have been staying in Glasgow for just over one month now. Since my PVG for teaching clearance has not been processed yet, I have been taking advantage of my free time to experience as much of Scotland as I can.
My first couple of weeks I stayed close to Glasgow to get settled and do all of the sightseeing within the city. The city center itself is stunning with the architecture and many many fun little shops. There is also a Highland Cattle Park right in Glasgow, so of course I had to go see them as soon as possible. They are even more precious in person.
As soon as I figured out the bus and train system I was off to Edinburgh. I have been back 3 times since I arrived, I can’t get enough of the architecture. I was able to book a guided tour of Edinburgh Castle which was absolutely incredible. My apparent obsession with architecture and castles continued during my trip to Sterling Castle and Doune Castle. Doune Castle was the castle in the first episode of Game of Thrones, which is very very cool. Once I returned from Sterling, I needed to get some beaching experience so I took a day trip to Troon where I had the best fish and chips of my life.
Once all of my central exploration was satisfied, it was Highland time. The train ride to Fort William had the most amazing views I have ever seen. I then took a ferry to Armadale during which 3 dolphins were following us playing in the wake. Transit isn’t as accessible in the highlands so I wasn’t able to see as much as I wanted to, but don’t worry, I found a bus tour after haha. The bus took me through Glencoe and then to Fort Augustus where I was able to take a boat tour of Loch Ness. Nessy was shy that day I guess, she didn’t make an appearance.
I am eager to begin my teaching placement, hopefully I will receive my PVG within the week so I can experience the Scottish education system. I’m looking forward to sharing that experience with everyone in this blog.
Thanks for reading!!! 🙂
