Having an AUSome time

Another amazing couple of weeks since my last blog post. The website isn’t letting me post any photos so you’ll just have to use your imagination 🙂

Since I’ve been commuting to Brisbane from the Gold Coast, I decided to stay in Byron Bay for a weekend (about an hour drive south from where I am). WakeUp Hostel in Byron Bay is the cleanest hostel I’ve stayed in so far. It’s located in a safe neighbourhood and only about a 15 minute walk from town, and the nightlife in Byron Bay is unbeatable. The infamous piano bar is a must-see, and the espresso martinis from Loft will make sure you enjoy every minute of it.

I lost my Go Card this week (the card you need to buy and load in order to use public transit). Only a couple weeks to go and I can’t find it anywhere. Pro tip: only keep $10-$20 loaded on your card at all times if you’re forgetful because I promise you WILL lose it. They really need to design those cards with lanyards attached or something because seriously. Sorry for the attitude, it’s still fresh.

Another pro tip if you’re a coffee lover like me: you WILL spend money on expensive lattes, it’s inevitable. This is not to discourage that. But when you’re commuting and doing practicum every day, you might want to invest in a cheap to-go cup and instant coffee (Moccona has been my favourite) so that you can bring it with you and you’re not tempted by the coffee shop across the street (easier said than done).

So far I’ve been to Wet N Wild and Fright Nights at Movie World; it’s so expensive ($100-$120 for a day pass at both parks- a fast pass costs double) but so much fun. If you like thrills and rollercoasters you definitely need to check these out, make a day of it, and wear your most absorbent pants (I’m only half-kidding).

Here’s to my last couple of weeks!
