It seemed as though it was only yesterday that I had just found out that I got accepted into the TAB program. Now, only 10 days remain until MacKenna and I depart for Italy! I am both super excited yet nervous for what to expect, especially considering that this will be the first time I am ever away from home for so long. I’ve been practicing my Italian, and can’t wait to try attempt conversations with it (even though my current skill level is così così. However, its on its way to becoming molto bene!). I’m already thinking about the sights I’ll get to see and the delicious food I’ll get to eat (especially all the pizza, pasta, and gelato, I’m salivating just at the thought of it)! Most of all, I’m can’t wait to start teaching and working with other educators and students. It’ll be interesting to see how the Italian education system is similar and different to our Canadian one.
Although our TAB experience doesn’t start until August 29th, we are taking the first week and a bit to travel and explore the rest of the country. We’ll be going to Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre, Venice, and Naples among other places before we settle in Rome for the duration of our stay. Needless to say, I’m so thrilled to be able to explore all of these places! After all, it has always been a dream of mine to go to Italy. My suitcase is 90% packed, and I am 110% ready to fly out. Next time I send out an update, we’ll most likely be roaming Rome!
Ciao for now,
Alex
