Hey everyone!
It has officially been two weeks of teaching in Spain, and everything has definitely exceeded my expectations so far! We have been placed at an international private and boarding school in the outskirts of Madrid. The school itself is incredible, so many amazing opportunities for the students including horseback riding, swimming lesson, and other extracurriculars during the school day. It’s also worth mentioning the lunches! Every student and staff are provided lunch with a super healthy balanced meal which happens to always be super delicious, we help the kids learn table manners as they all must sit together in the cafeteria by grade.
Myself, I was placed in two 1st grade classes, this is very different from my usual placements that have almost all been in grade 12 and 11! It has truly been a great learning experience, these kids have taught me just as much as I have taught them. There are even a few newer students who we don’t really understand each other but still laugh and learn together.
Outside of school, I’ve been super lucky to be able to explore the city of Madrid and the whole Country of Spain. Whether its day trips on the bus, flying to a near by country, or the numerous high speed trains, we have definitely been taking any opportunity to explore what we can! Up to date I have been to 13 cities and 3 countries! Next on the list is Barcelona and then Dublin!
One of my favourite parts of our place in Madrid is that our next door neighbours happen to be the royal family (kidding but not really) we live about a 30 second walk from the royal palace of Madrid which is absolutely stunning. Our regular nights as roommates include sunset walks around our front yard park, tapas or homemade charcuterie (Janine’s obsession with olives has become a big thing in the house), and meeting up with the other TAB girls to go for dinner or we also have a lovely couch that fits all 5 of us for movies and Gossip Girl hahah.
Until next time! Adiós!
