Bringing Canada to Germany

I can’t believe how fast the time has gone and that we’re already a month into TAB!

The past several weeks at the “schule” I have been visiting have been so much fun. I’ve been enjoying bringing little bits of Canadian schooling into the classroom, from read alouds of books by Canadian authors, teaching floor hockey drills, sharing treats that I brought from home, to building Inukshuks as a class, and I can tell the students and their teacher feel the same. I was surprised to find how little the children actually knew about Canada in the first place and how interested they were to hear what I had to say about it. They ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the pictures I showed about famous Canadian landmarks, made connections between Canadian and German wildlife, loved trying the unique snacks, and had so much fun taking turns adding stones to the several mini Inukshuks we made together. It’s truly been a pleasure to be so welcomed into this space and to be able to tell these eager ears about where I come from.

I’m so saddened to know that there are only a few weeks left already!!
