Hello everyone, 4 weeks have passed. We are half way through the program. I feel more settled in. Danang is a city where everyone is swarming around starting way before 5 am, hiding in the shade from 8 am until 5 pm and swarming again until wee hours of the night. At the beach, they like to exercise first thing in the morning, usually starting at 4 or 5 am, either in a bigger class or by themselves by the shore, some of them are burying themselves in the wet sand or take a swim in the ocean. At 8 or 9 am I have the beach for myself and maybe an occasional Asian tourist who comes to pose by the beach, taking selfies or having a personal photoshoot.
It is pouring down here something fiercely at times, I have always wanted to be caught in a tropical rain so the other evening I went to the local market bought some fruit and then as I was coming back it started pouring down so hard. I took shelter underneath a canopy but after a while, I was like this is the time to walk in that tropical rain that you’ve always wanted to walk in, so I did get super soaked I mean I was ringing my clothes out of water. It was then when I felt cooling off for the first time in almost 4 weeks without the aid of AC. Monsoon season will start soon. I wonder if I’ll get tired of rain. There’s not much rain in Alberta. There’s no one at the beach right now this would be the perfect time to go there this would be the first time to swim.
How bad is it that I’m not keeping track of all these amazing coffees I’m drinking. I mean at home I didn’t drink any and all of a sudden, I’m ingesting so much caffeine, it’s somehow hard to believe.
The students are so, so cute, all the time waving at us and welcoming us. I know I’m not suppose to have favorites, but Tina is a smart cookie and she’ll go far. She even tells jokes in English, hahaha. She likes to come and talk to Gabe and I and we love her questions.
More to come later, Carmen
