Out and About in Australia!

One of the perks of coming to Australia for TAB is their two week school holdiday at the end of Septmeber. This holoday meant that our liasion had not planned anything for us to experience and we could do all of the exploring that our hearts’ desired. As a group we did a few weekend trips to make the most of our time here!

BYRON BAY!

The first trip was to Byron Bay, just a short bus ride down into the next state! Byron Bay is the cutest little surf town, perfect for a girls weekend! We ate a cafés, did some shopping and just lounged on the beach for three days! It was incredible, definitly going into my top highlights of this experience.

Darby, Kassie and I also tried surfing! We booked an experinece with Terry from Kool Katz surfing school, and it was definitly a unique experience. Because our group was so large another intructor, Mateo joined us and got all three of us up at least once!

The absolute best part of the trip for me was our sunrise ‘hike’ to Cape Byron on our last morning. We woke up at 4am to walk 45 minute from out hostel to the lighthouse lookout, which is the most easternly point on the Ausralian mainland (perfect for a sunrise)!

This walk was 10000% worth the early rise and long day that followed. It was the best sunrise I have ever witnessed, we even got to see whales breaching in the water below and it was geuinely the most perfect start to our morning.

WHITSUNDAYS SAILING TOUR!

The following weekend we all booked a 2 day, 2 night sailing tour around the Whitsundays islands in northern Queesnland. It was INCREDIBLE.

The first day we got picked up in the marina around 2pm, got our room assignments and then got to swim around before eating dinner prepared for us by one of the crew members. The night was for us to socializing with all of the other toruists on the boat and we met some really cool people.

Day 2 was an early wake up for breakfast before getting off the boat to explore Whitehaven Beach! There was a little lookout and them we got to lounge aorund the beach before heading back to the boat for lunch and a snorkle. We got to snorkle two areas of the Great Barrier Reef, we saw lots of coral and fish – specifally a very large fish that our crew called Big George. This evening was again dinner, socailizing and the boat’s White party where everyone danced and sang in their best white outfits.

The final morning was just breakfast and swimming around before heading back into the marina!

Our transportation choice was a 16h train ride back to Brisbane… so we had the afternoon to kill beofre heading to the train sation and immediately falling asleep on the way home.

The commute there and back was definitily worth it though, I had the best time ever and it is an experince I will remember forever!

Looking forward to getting into the schools next week!
