My six-day trip to Cairns was one of the most memorable holidays I’ve ever had. From the very start, the combination of adventure and stunning landscapes made it an experience I won’t forget. One of the highlights was snorkelling at the Great Barrier Reef. Seeing the vibrant coral and marine life up close was surreal. The beaches in Cairns are some of the most incredible I’ve seen, with white sands and clear waters that stretch for miles. I spent a lot of time soaking it all in. Another highlight was chasing waterfalls, especially visiting Millaa Millaa Falls. This spot is well-known for appearing in music videos and commercials, but in person, it’s even more striking.
Hitting the halfway point, I started getting more comfortable navigating around Brisbane. The transit system is now a piece of cake to figure out, and I gained more confidence to explore the city independently. I am even getting used to walking on the left side of the sidewalk—a small but useful adjustment. Celebrating my birthday here was a nice bonus. Even though I missed my friends and family, I made sure to stay connected with regular calls and video chats. As my break wraps up, I’m preparing to transition into my school placement. I’m looking forward to being in a Grade 2 classroom, learning from both the students and my partner teacher. It’s a new challenge, but I’m excited to dive in.
