School Holidays in the UK

Hi again!

In Scotland, there’s a 1-2 week school break in mid-October. My school had a week off so I decided to take a week-long trip to London—a bucket-list destination for me. As someone with an English literature degree and a love for history and reading, I had tons I wanted to see.

Museums in the UK are generally free so I visited the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Tate Britain. The theatre scene in London is also world-famous so I went to see Troilus & Cressida at Shakespeare’s Globe and Moulin Rouge!, Mamma Mia!, and Phantom of the Opera on the West End.

I also did two day trips from London while I was there—one to Bath and one to Stratford-upon-Avon. Both were relatively easy to get to via train. Bath was beautiful, especially with all the fall colours, and the Roman Baths were a must-see. Stratford-upon-Avon is Shakespeare’s hometown, and I visited his birth place, school room, and Anne Hathaway’s cottage.

After a whirlwind of a trip, I caught the hostel flu so I’m looking forward to getting some rest, focusing on school, and fitting in some final Scotland exploration before this experience wraps up next week.

Until then,

Bella
